Ella is a small village in the southern hill country with cool air, green valleys and some of the island's best easy walks. Little Adam's Peak is a gentle climb through tea fields with wide views over the Ella Gap, and Ella Rock is a longer, tougher hike. The Nine Arches Bridge at Demodara is a stone railway viaduct dating from the early 20th century, and watching a train cross it is a favourite moment for visitors. Ravana Falls is close to the main road, and the railway from Kandy to Ella is famous for its scenery.
