Horton Plains is a high plateau in the central highlands, at around 2,100 to 2,300 metres, and is part of the UNESCO-listed Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. The landscape is rolling grassland broken by patches of stunted cloud forest. A circular trail of about 9 km passes Mini World's End, World's End and Baker's Falls. World's End is a sheer cliff where the plateau drops away by hundreds of metres, and the view is only clear in the early morning, before mist rolls in. Sambar deer are common, and the park has many highland birds and plants.
